Isaac Toast: Korea’s Famous MVP Toast Series & Fruit Smoothie At Plaza Singapura

It’s been a gruelling wait for all Isaac Toast fans ever since they first announced their prospective arrival in Singapore about a month ago.

The long wait will finally be over, when they open their doors to the anticipating public on the 15 July 2018.

Their kiosk is the first thing you’ll see upon stepping off the descending escalator. (Spot our videographer Isaac under the ‘Isaac’ sign.)

When we arrived, the place was already bustling and their staff was hard at work.

We were told that the company has been striving to push for authenticity in their products and the managers from the Korean outlet had actually come down for a little quality check.

Also, in case you were wondering, the menu here is more extensive than the one at their Johor Bahru Outlet.

It was quite a joy watching the team at Isaac Toast prepare our orders. You might think, “eh, it’s just bread what” (because that was me initially), but the way they took meticulous care to butter each slice thoroughly really impressed me.

Watching in anticipation as our sandwiches were being prepared! But meanwhile, we occupied our tummies with some drinks first…

Apart from your usual coffees, they’ve also expanded their drinks selection. The beverages were pretty sweet in general, but it got better after the ice begins to melt for a bit.

From the left to right: Iced Green Tea Latte ($3.90), Strawberry & Banana Fruit Smoothie ($5.90) and Choco Milkshake ($4.90).

The best of the trio in our opinion was the Strawberry & Banana Fruit Smoothie that to be honest didn’t taste much like banana, but the strawberry provided just the right amount of tanginess to balance out the whole drink.

Amongst the four types of toasts that we had, the Ham & Cheese ($4.50) was one of the most recommended ones.

We all agreed that it was a little plain for the price tag, and I was rudely shocked by the sweet corn bits hidden within the omelette. I don’t know about you, but I like my ham and cheese purely savoury.

Part of the MVP Toast Series that will be debuting during their launch, the Shrimp MVP ($6.90) was our favourite of the afternoon.

The mayonnaise well-complimented the shrimp patty that was flavourful and had a good bite.

I had high hopes for the Double Spicy Cutlet ($6.90) but was sorely disappointed. I was expecting more of a double McSpicy sort of snack, but wound up with a stack of two small chicken fillets smothered in chilli sauce.

Also, it was pretty cold by the time we sunk our teeth in so let’s hope that they iron that out in the days to come.

Our last sandwich was the Bulgogi MVP ($6.50), which comprised a chicken patty and cheese slice topped with shredded white cabbage.

The tender patty was very easy to munch on, but the cheese saved the whole ensemble for me. It was overall pretty average; not bad but I wouldn’t come back especially for it.

Or if you’re seeking a little more fun just like us, you can stack up all the flavours and take a bite out of the edible castle (if you can!).

Our overall verdict on Korea’s super-hyped toast brand? It’s novel if you’ve never tried the one in Korea, and those who have will probably find that it tastes about the same. Or if you’re just looking for some simple comfort food, Isaac Toast’s your guy.

PS: As mentioned, Isaac Toast Singapore will be giving away free Americanos to all customers who can say their slogan in Korean, “The Happiness Together, 더불어 행복한 세상을”.

Here’s the Romanized version to help you out: deobul-eo, haengbokhan, sesang-eul.

Expected Damage: $4.50 – $8.90 per pax
