Burgernomics: S$6.50 Burger With Truffle Aioli & Kicup Manis Wings At Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre

There’s something about burgers that makes them the perfect meal and comfort food. Juicy meat patties, fresh veggies and fragrant fluffy buns; what’s not to like about burgers?

Nestled in a corner of the hipster Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, chefs at halal burger stall Burgernomics cook one mean burger.

Even though it’s a small stall, there are five burger options, including beef, chicken and fish. And you can choose to complete your meal with different varieties of fries.

At Burgernomics, their bestselling Deluxe Burger (S$6.50) is the way to go. It has everything a burger should have: Australian beef patty, double slices of cheddar, huge portions of sauteed mushrooms and onions, finished with a generous layer of truffle aioli.

The Deluxe Burger arrived with melting cheese and sauce dripping from the golden toasted buns. We couldn’t wait to take a bite!

The tender beef patty was well cooked and slightly saltier than usual, while the truffle aioli brought out the sweetness of the patty. If you love beef burgers and anything with truffle, this one’s for you.

The Crispy Chicken Burger (S$6.50) is ideal if you’re a chicken lover or don’t eat beef. The buttermilk marinated fried chicken is served with apple and red cabbage slaw. The taste was a pleasant surprise, because who knew apples could go well with fried chicken? It had a slightly tangy taste that made every bite refreshing.

The aromatic chicken was marinated with spices and tasted like crispy chicken goreng from a local Malay food stall, making it comforting to have. This is my favourite because even though it is marinated with buttermilk, it was light.

Burgernomics also offers affordable sides in large portions, and we opted for two of their most popular choices.

The Chilli Cheesy Beef (S$4) fries came in a bowl that’s perfect for three or four people to share, especially if you’re having one main each. But you can totally indulge in this as a meal if you aren’t up for a burger.

The well-seasoned minced chilli beef and homemade cheese sauce brought much more flavour to the bowl of straight cut fries. I would recommend this if you guys are craving more full-flavoured fries, as this dish can be quite heavy on the palate!

The Wings & Fries (S$3.50) is the star player when it comes to sides. For just S$3.50, you get four winglets or drumlets served with a side of fries.

What makes these wings worth the attention is the coating of kicap manis sauce (sweet soy sauce) and chilli flakes all over it. The sauce was a mouthful of flavours — sweet, tangy and a slight kick from the spiciness. It is a must try!

Burgernomics offers great burgers and sides for very affordable prices. Most of their burgers have a slight tweak of Asian spice just to keep the local flavours alive.

With burgers priced around S$6 – S$7.50 and generous portions of sides that cost less than S$6, it is definitely worth the trip to the far East. If you’re in the area, you should definitely drop by for a cheap and tasty meal.

And fret not! Though their burgers are cheap, the quality wasn’t compromised. There may be long lines especially during dinner time, so head over slightly earlier than their opening hours if you don’t want to wait!

Expected Damage: S$6 – S$12 per pax
