We love a good bo luo bao, and we love flaky, light croissants, but a hybrid of them both? Wait, hold up. If you’re telling me that I can get the same airy pastries that somehow ooze salted egg yolk, count me in!
Delifrance Singapore has decided to take what they do best and fuse it with the golden, crunchy crust to bring us the nation’s first Oozy Bo Luo Croissant, which will be made available across all 27 outlets from 3 July 2018.
We heard that the perfect croissant has exactly 27 layers, and Delifrance takes pride in crafting theirs to perfection (perhaps it’s no coincidence that there are 27 outlets in Singapore too?).
The croissants come in six unique flavours: Kaya & Butter, Salted Egg Yolk, Hazelnut Praline, Sea Salt Dark Chocolate, Crunchy Peanut and Blueberry Cream Cheese.
I headed on down to give them all a try for myself, but I’d like to highlight just a few that stood out more.
The Hazelnut Praline ($2.80) tasted just like a Nutella puff, so that’s great news if you’re a fan of the cocoa spread.
The peanut butter lover in me couldn’t help but be drawn to the Crunchy Peanut ($2.80) which even had peanut chunks in it. This is hands down the more atas and indulgent version of your $1.20 peanut butter waffle from neighbourhood bakeries.
If for some crazy reason you don’t like peanuts nor chocolate, then the Blueberry Cream Cheese ($2.80) has surely got to satiate you. Luckily the cream cheese helped to balance out the sweetness of the blueberry filling, making it a light mid-day snack.
A little birdie told us that the Oozy Bo Luo Croissant series is here to stay and will soon be a permanent addition to Delifrance’s menu, so that gives you plenty of time to try them all!
Date: From 3 July 2018
Prices: $2.80 per piece, $7.40 for 3 pieces, $14.80 for 6 pieces, $29 for 12 pieces
